Give your morning oatmeal a warm and comforting effect by stirring in a helping of finely ground Ceylon cinnamon to the mix.

Ingredients (Serves 1):
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup water or milk (or non-dairy alternative)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1–2 tsp honey, maple syrup, or brown sugar (to taste)
  • Optional: Fresh fruit (e.g., sliced banana or berries), nuts, or seeds for topping
Equipment:
  • Small saucepan
  • Spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Bowl
Instructions:
  • Heat Liquid: In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup water or milk to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  • Cook Oats: Add 1/2 cup rolled oats and a pinch of salt. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5–7 minutes until the oats are soft and have absorbed the liquid.
  • Add Cinnamon: Stir in 1/4 tsp finely ground Ceylon cinnamon until evenly distributed, infusing the oatmeal with a warm, subtle citrusy flavor.
  • Sweeten: Mix in 1–2 tsp honey, maple syrup, or brown sugar to taste.
  • Serve: Transfer to a bowl. Top with fresh fruit, nuts, or seeds if desired. Enjoy hot for a comforting start to your day.
Tips:
  • Use Ceylon cinnamon for its mild, sweet-citrus flavor; avoid stronger cassia cinnamon.
  • Adjust cinnamon and sweetener to taste, keeping the cinnamon subtle to enhance the oats.
  • For creamier oatmeal, use milk instead of water or a mix of both.
  • Add toppings like sliced banana or almonds for extra texture and flavor.
  • Warm up your morning with this cozy, cinnamon-infused oatmeal!

Cinnamon

Ceylon cinnamon, also known as true cinnamon, is the obvious choice for anyone looking for cinnamon that goes beyond the commonly found Cassia and its bold, punchy profile.

  • Subtle, sweet, and mildly citrusy flavor
  • Light, flaky bark that can be ground or used whole
  • Low coumarin content compared to Cassia cinnamon – thus safer for daily use
  • Ethically sourced and single-origin crops
We source the products that we feature in neesh Spice from a single-origin, carefully maintained farm located in Elpitiya, Sri Lanka – which brings about an interesting mix of tropical climate, nutrient-rich soil and the ideal setting for crops like Cinnamon, Tea and Pepper.
