Add a pinch of finely ground Ceylon cinnamon to your morning coffee for a zap of caffeine with a sweet, citrusy kick.

Ingredients (Serves 1):
  • 1 tbsp ground coffee (medium roast, preferably)
  • 1/8 tsp finely ground Ceylon cinnamon
  • 1 cup water (8 oz)
  • Optional: 1–2 tsp sugar, honey, or sweetener to taste
  • Optional: Splash of milk or non-dairy alternative
Equipment:
  • Coffee maker, French press, or pour-over setup
  • Kettle or saucepan
  • Coffee filter (if needed)
  • Mug
  • Spoon
Instructions:
  • Heat Water: Bring 1 cup of fresh water to a near boil (around 195–205°F/90–96°C) in a kettle or saucepan.
  • Prepare Coffee: Add 1 tbsp ground coffee and 1/8 tsp finely ground Ceylon cinnamon to your coffee maker, French press, or pour-over filter. If using a coffee maker, place the mix in the filter basket.
  • Brew: Pour the hot water over the coffee and cinnamon mixture, following your brewing method:
  • Coffee Maker: Run the machine as usual.
  • French Press: Pour water, stir, steep for 4 minutes, then press down the plunger.
  • Pour-Over: Slowly pour water in a circular motion, allowing it to drip through (about 2–3 minutes).
  • Customize (Optional): Stir in 1–2 tsp sugar, honey, or sweetener to taste. Add a splash of milk or non-dairy alternative for creaminess, if desired.
  • Serve: Pour into a mug and enjoy hot, savoring the sweet, citrusy kick of Ceylon cinnamon paired with the coffee’s bold flavor.
Tips:
  • Use Ceylon cinnamon for its subtle, sweet-citrus flavor; avoid stronger cassia cinnamon.
  • Adjust cinnamon to taste, but use sparingly to avoid overpowering the coffee.
  • Freshly ground coffee beans enhance the flavor profile.
  • For a stronger brew, increase coffee to 1.5 tbsp but keep brewing time consistent.
  • Kickstart your morning with this zesty, caffeine-charged coffee!

Cinnamon
Cinnamon

Ceylon cinnamon, also known as true cinnamon, is the obvious choice for anyone looking for cinnamon that goes beyond the commonly found Cassia and its bold, punchy profile.

  • Subtle, sweet, and mildly citrusy flavor
  • Light, flaky bark that can be ground or used whole
  • Low coumarin content compared to Cassia cinnamon – thus safer for daily use
  • Ethically sourced and single-origin crops
We source the products that we feature in neesh Spice from a single-origin, carefully maintained farm located in Elpitiya, Sri Lanka – which brings about an interesting mix of tropical climate, nutrient-rich soil and the ideal setting for crops like Cinnamon, Tea and Pepper.
