Mix finely ground Ceylon cinnamon with sugar for a special topping for toast, pancakes or desserts.

Ingredients (Makes about 1/4 cup):
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Equipment:
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Airtight container or jar
Instructions:
  • Combine Ingredients: In a small mixing bowl, add 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1 tsp finely ground Ceylon cinnamon.
  • Mix Well: Whisk or stir thoroughly until the cinnamon is evenly distributed throughout the sugar, creating a uniform light brown mixture.
  • Store: Transfer the cinnamon sugar to an airtight container or jar. Store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
  • Serve: Sprinkle over buttered toast, pancakes, waffles, or desserts like ice cream or fruit for a sweet, aromatic topping with a citrusy Ceylon cinnamon kick.
Tips:
  • Use Ceylon cinnamon for its subtle, sweet-citrusy flavor; avoid stronger cassia cinnamon.
  • Adjust the ratio to taste (e.g., 1/2 tsp cinnamon for a milder flavor or 1.5 tsp for a bolder mix).
  • Shake the container before each use to ensure even distribution.
  • Try sprinkling on oatmeal or coffee drinks for an extra flavor boost.

Enhance your dishes with this simple, aromatic cinnamon sugar topping!

Cinnamon
Cinnamon

Ceylon cinnamon, also known as true cinnamon, is the obvious choice for anyone looking for cinnamon that goes beyond the commonly found Cassia and its bold, punchy profile.

  • Subtle, sweet, and mildly citrusy flavor
  • Light, flaky bark that can be ground or used whole
  • Low coumarin content compared to Cassia cinnamon – thus safer for daily use
  • Ethically sourced and single-origin crops
We source the products that we feature in neesh Spice from a single-origin, carefully maintained farm located in Elpitiya, Sri Lanka – which brings about an interesting mix of tropical climate, nutrient-rich soil and the ideal setting for crops like Cinnamon, Tea and Pepper.
